Seachange Residents Tee Off at Charity Golf Day

16 November 2015 by Shane Cresser

Our second annual Seachange Golf Day Challenge has been heralded a ‘hole in one’ with more than 100 residents attending the popular sporting and social event. Residents from both communities had the opportunity to socialise and play with their neighbours, Seachange staff and local business supporters.

The Ambrose competition began at 12.30pm with a shotgun start. Teams enjoyed bottle water, juice and fresh fruit throughout the day from Woolworths Carrara. The event concluded with drinks, dinner and presentation of prizes at the Clubhouse.

Seachange Arundel was declared the overall winner with 924.5 points and Emerald Lakes Golf Club was the runner up with 1011 points.
The winning team achieved 55 points and was comprised of Kevin Seers, John Davies, Rick Ninness and Peter Bayada.
The second place team on 66.5 points was Phil Goodman, Dean Wiltshire, John McCann and Matt Langmack.
Last place on 88 points was Bob and Jenny Parmenter and John and Helen Dean.

Seachange Arundel Project Director Phil Goodman said the event helped bring together residents and invigorate their minds, bodies and souls.
“We look forward to holding the third annual event next year,” he said.

All proceeds from the day went to the Fred Hollows Foundation.

Seachange Arundel – 2015 Queensland Dual Industry Award Winner for Senior Living

12 November 2015 by Shane Cresser

Seachange Arundel continues to strengthen it’s position as Queensland’s most successful integrated communities for the active over 50s after winning at the prestigious 2015 UDIA Queensland Awards for Excellence.

The Pradella Property Ventures’ community was awarded the Seniors’ Living category of the prestigious awards, which recognise excellence in property development.

It caps off a successful year for Seachange Arundel, which also won the best Lifestyle Accommodation for Seniors category at the 2015 Master Builders Housing and Construction Awards announced earlier this year.

Seachange Arundel Project Director Phil Goodman said winning the UDIA award was a great honour for Seachange Arundel, which remained the most awarded over 50s lifestyle resort in Queensland.

He said it topped off an outstanding growth phase for the resort, which is expected to be sold by early April 2016.

“We are catering for the fastest growing segment of the Australian population who are demanding specific housing and facilities that give them lifestyle; buyers should act quickly to secure the best remaining homes”, he said.

“While many of our residents and prospective residents remain in the workplace – we estimate about a third – they no longer want or need the burden of a large home and backyards that require high maintenance.

“Seachange Arundel offers them the ultimate alternative – spacious homes, luxury fittings and gardens that are fully maintained”.

Integral to the Seachange Arundel lifestyle is the five-star Country Club, just a short walk from any home. Luxury facilities include dining areas, club lounges, games rooms, a library, bowls club, seven championship bowling rinks, 32-seat cinema with tiered seating, craft room, workshop, two floodlit tennis courts, indoor heated pool and outdoor lagoon pool, spa and gym, sauna, steam room, wine room and dance floor.

Seachange Arundel homes range from two bedroom terrace homes to three bedroom, free-standing designs, all of the traditional homes feature 2.7m ceilings, oversize double lock up garages and two bathrooms. They incorporate upmarket finishes including stone benches, ceiling fans, ducted air-conditioning and fully tiled floors.

The development is conveniently located across the road from a Coles-anchored shopping centre with retail, health care and commercial services. Seachange Arundel is also adjacent to the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area and within a five-kilometre drive of the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The Secret to Ageing Well

11 November 2015 by Shane Cresser

When we were creating Seachange Emerald Lakes, we were inspired by some of our favourite over 50s lifestyle resorts. We are fully aware that the more active people are as they age, the more healthy and happy they are. So we set about creating the kind of lifestyle resort where over 50’s would move in because they want to as opposed to moving because they have to.

Recently, we found a blog article with tips for ageing well. Literally every tip is encouraged by the lifestyle here at Seachange Emerald Lakes. Here are the top three tips and how we encourage them.

Be Physically Active

Our 5-Star Country Club offers swimming, tennis and a gym. We have 13 km of walking paths. Activities such as yoga and light exercise are offered at the club house. We are within buggy distance of one golf course and within 5 km of four more courses. We are situated on a beautiful lake, which literally brings the beach to you. Most of all, there are plenty of like-minded people for you to engage in activities with.

Be Socially Active

We are built on the principles of friendship, fun and fitness. When you move into Seachange Emerald Lakes, it’s like you have a network of friends almost immediately. Emerald Lakes retail precinct located at our doorstep features a choice of restaurants and coffee shop. You are within walking distance of even more amenities.

Keep Your Brain Active

All of that socialising will keep your brain active. But we also have activities like arts and crafts. You will never run out of things to read and you will be able to find plenty of people to play games with to keep you mentally sharp.

Golf Buggies Show Residents the Way to Move

4 November 2015 by Shane Cresser

Travelling by golf buggy has become an exciting way of life at Seachange Emerald Lakes, with residents using them to meet up with friends for coffee and cake or going to the golf course for a quick nine holes.

The Gold Coast’s gated country club estate for over 50s is proud to be one of the first golf buggy-friendly communities in Queensland. Recent residents who purchased a home at Seachange Emerald Lakes were given the keys to a free golf buggy and a golf club membership at the award winning Emerald Lakes Golf Club.

“Golf buggies are our preferred mode of transport at Seachange Emerald Lakes,” said Resident David Sylow. “We enjoy the convenient and low cost mode of transport to surrounding restaurants, shops and amenities.”
David said the golf buggies were a fun, social way to get some fresh air and met up with friends and neighbours.

The inaugural residents recently took a leisurely drive from their new homes to the Emerald Lakes Golf Club in a convoy of golf buggies. Emerald Lakes Golf Club Director of Golf Gavin Sconce welcomed residents and presented them with their associate club memberships.

“We have watched Seachange from the beginning and we are very excited to be welcoming the first residents to the club.” Phil Goodman, Seachange Project Director said the golf buggies fit in with Seachange’s vision to invigorate the mind, body and soul of its residents.

Seachange delivers the best for boomers with new country club

18 September 2015 by Terence Moyana

The expansion of Pradella Property Ventures’ Seachange Emerald Lakes continues with the launch of its $4 million state of the art country club – believed to be one of the best of its kind in an over 50s lifestyle resort in Australia.

Members of the political, business and property communities as well as residents of the $75 million community attended the opening of the five-star country club, located in the heart of Emerald Lakes, on Wednesday in a VIP gala event.

Leading social commentator and author, Bernard Salt, who was the feature speaker on the evening, welcomed the addition of the new country club.

With baby boomers currently driving the Gold Coast’s powering property market, Mr Salt said Seachange Emerald Lakes was the right fit for the demographic, which valued amenities within walking distance, along with connectivity.

“Baby Boomers and beyond prize lifestyle rich amenities with close proximity to shopping, dining and major entertainment facilities,” he said.

He stated that quality over 50s communities that promoted healthy, vibrant and active lifestyles such as Seachange Emerald Lakes were in short supply.

The launch of the country club follows the sale of over 50 per cent of the boutique community in just 12 months. The first residents moved into the estate late last year.

Seachange Emerald Lakes project director Phil Goodman said the completion of the country club marked an exciting time for the community and its residents.

“We have been eagerly awaiting the completion of the country club as we look to extend our community and welcome more residents into our wonderful resort,” he said.

“We our proud to be setting the benchmark in over 50s lifestyle resorts offering a country club with amenities that will nourish our resident’s minds, bodies and souls.”

Designed by Wiltshire Stevens Architects and built by Alders Construction, the country club is a multi-use building designed to foster a sense of community, with residents doing just that the very next morning, swapping stories of the night over a cup of tea in the Gallery.

The country club features an indoor gym, library, cinema, craft room, outdoor terrace, function space, indoor and outdoor pools, and tennis court.

Wiltshire Stevens architect Dean Wiltshire said the club was designed to be “sophisticated yet relaxed” and appeal to a high-end clientele.

“We wanted the building to be timeless, so we have used a lot of stone and strong lines. We also wanted to generate a bit of excitement with the roof forms,” he said.

He said the club captured a variety of views, from the lake to the nearby Metricon stadium.

Viewings are by appointment through the onsite Sales Centre on 1800 559 669.

Why We Not Only Allow, but Encourage Pet Ownership

12 August 2015 by Shane Cresser

At Seachange Emerald Lakes, it is our mission to provide the very best in active adult lifestyle resorts. One of the cornerstones of this is to allow our homeowners the same rights they would have in their former homes. We feel that one of the best rights is pet ownership.

For the safety of our residents, we have a 10kg limit on pets and for the harmony of the community we do have a few breed restrictions. However, that doesn’t stop residents from having their favourite pet to keep them company. Over the years, there has been numerous research done on the benefits of pet ownership, especially later in life. Even though we are an active adult lifestyle resort at Emerald Lakes, we still know how great it is to come home to a dog or a cat who is ready to shower you with affection when you get home from a busy day.

Benefits of Pet Ownership

The research on pet ownership is extensive and well-documented: here are some of the highlights.

Pet owners are more likely to be happy than those who don’t own pets. Interacting with a dog or cat has been found to increase the “happy” neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine. These make you happy and help you relax.

Pet owners have been found to have lower triglyceride levels, cholesterol levels and blood pressure than those who don’t own pets. In addition, heart patients with pets survive on an average of more than twice as long as those without pets.

More Benefits for Dog Owners

Especially in an active adult community, walking your dog helps you meet and interact with more people on a daily basis. We provide plenty of social opportunities here, but dog owners seem to feel a special kinship.

Walking a dog every day provides exercise. It is a great start to the day for those who are active and is a great way to guarantee twenty life-extending minutes of walking every day.
