Seachange Emerald Lakes, Australia first Gated Country Club Estate designed for over 50’s, has been voted Queensland’s best community building for 2016 by the Master Builders Association, which recognises excellence in the Queensland building and construction industry.

Designed by Wiltshire Stevens Architects and built by Alders Construction, the country club is a multi-use building designed to foster a sense of community. The country club features an indoor gym, library, cinema, craft room, outdoor terrace, function space, indoor and outdoor pools, and tennis court.

Wiltshire Stevens architect Dean Wiltshire said the club was designed to be “sophisticated yet relaxed” and appeal to a high-end clientele

Seachange Emerald Lakes project director Phil Goodman said the recognition marked an important milestone in the projects very short history. “We our proud that we have again set a new benchmark, not only have we created Australia’s first Gated Country Club Estate  designed for over 50’s, we have built an award winning country club with amenities that will nourish our resident’s minds, bodies and souls.”

Gather, Share and Give…

13 June 2016 by Terence Moyana

On Thursday 26th May, Seachange Emerald Lakes hosted and participated in their first charity event, the Cancer Council’s “Biggest Morning Tea”.  The event aimed to raise vital funds for cancer research, prevention and support services.

The Club House at Seachange Emerald Lakes provided the perfect backdrop for “The Biggest Morning Tea” with residents and their families and friends eager to show their support for such a worthy cause with over 130 people in attendance. In keeping with Seachange Emerald Lakes position as Australia’s premier Over 50’s Lifestyle Resort, champagne was provided upon arrival.

All in attendance were treated to the delights of Cindy the harpist and vital funds were raised during a range of fun activities, guessing the beans in the jar and tossing a ping-pong ball into a bucket. Throughout the day much laughter and friendly banter could be heard throughout all corners of this magnificent venue and the buffet table provided the perfect meeting point for residents and guests to interact as a true community.

Sitting in prime poolside terrace seats and enjoying the festivities were the newest residents of Emerald Lakes, having just picked up their keys the day before. Michael and Phillipa Kennedy look forward to what the future holds and couldn’t be more excited about moving in and being part of a family environment.  Close by were another couple that have called Seachange Emerald Lakes home for exactly a year, Robin and Glennie Cameron.  Robin stated, “that the morning tea whilst a fundraiser was also a prime opportunity for mingling amongst all, meeting new friends and catching up with old friends”.

Residents within the community pulled together for such an admirable cause, it can only be said that this event from beginning to end was a proud Seachange Moment. To top it all off, $2,500 was raised for the inaugural Cancer Councils “Biggest Morning Tea”.

Balance is Key – Meet the Seachange Lifestyle Resorts team

3 May 2016 by Terence Moyana

Crossfit is the new fitness and lifestyle buzzword in the training arena and certainly a new concept within the community of Seachange and one that Peter Weiss, Construction Manager at Seachange Lifestyle Homes, lives by day in and day out. Crossfit clearly supports the demands he faces on a daily basis on the work site, back in the office and on the training ground. Peter, though extremely modest, has managed to take his crossfit career to great heights on both a national scale ranking very recently in the top 10 for his age group 50-55 in Australia and globally Peter has been known to be sitting ‘pretty’ within the top 30.

Gymnastics, weightlifting and running are just a few components of and elements to Crossfit movement training. Crossfit is a program that is specifically designed to improve health through movement at relatively high intensity. Peter started this fitness regime only in the last eighteen months and his training commitment of daily early morning training (and let us stress the words ‘daily’ and ‘early’) and three afternoon training sessions, shows such commitment and dedication.

He constantly employs a varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity which enables Peter dramatic gains in his fitness, which then enables him to confidently enter competitions on a regular basis at a highly competitive level. Crossfit, summed up by Peter, “is based on a community, where likeminded people train together, just like the over 50s community within Seachange”. Goal and data driven, Peter within his position of Construction Manager has high standards to maintain and time restrictions to work around on a daily basis under pressure.

It is no surprise that his training regime of Crossfit parallel his work ethic with the way he is motivated and keeps data and scores. Both, in his work life and exercise regime Peter measures, records and monitors with always a keen eye on how to improve. Basically, Peter is out to forge measurable consistent results in both dynamics of work life and fitness training.

Peter, like so many residents at Seachange, with the mindset of living it large through a healthy lifestyle, within his age dynamic of over 50s is dedicated to both advancement of health and athletic performance. He keenly realises performance in crossfit training directly affects his performance as a Construction Manager and the vital role he plays within a lifestyle based community keen on loving the way they live at Seachange.

We Will Remember

26 April 2016 by Terence Moyana

On April 25th, ANZAC Day, every year Australians young and old come together to honour soldiers, their deeds and their wide experience of war, and this is where this story begins. This is the story of a humble, unassuming, yet distinguished and honourable man who has been decorated with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM). Clive Mitchell Taylor OAM, along with his wife, Margaret, are both very active residents within the over 50s community of Seachange Arundel, and have been for the better part of five years.

This Anzac Day (2016), Clive will be leading the 8th Battalion on the march through Brisbane, an honour that is bestowed to few and one that is not to be taken lightly; a role that Clive is very proud to carry out as this year commemorates the 50th year anniversary of the forming of this Battalion. In conjunction with leading the March, Clive is also delivering a speech at the dawn service at The Enoggera Barracks.

Clive within the Army ranks has held a variety of positions from Private to Major. Upon retirement he has been heavily involved with the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia (VVAA) in the capacities of President, Treasurer and Secretary to very briefly mention merely a few of his connections with Ex-Service Veterans. Therefore, Clive is more than capable to keep the connection strong within the thirtytwo (32) veterans that all reside within this community and whom proudly call Seachange Arundel home.

Whilst Margaret stresses that Clive is ‘stepping back’ from his various duties and positions and basic involvement with the VVAA, the community within Seachange Arundel allows him to keep his passion strong and current. Clive finds purpose, strength and friendships through this community and his involvement, that can but only be applauded. Such a proud man, Clive is quick to down play and make light of his association and experience during his enlistment, his commitment with the VVAA and currently his involvement within the Seachange Arundel community. Clearly Clive and Margaret are endeared residents of this community and they proudly call it home and after spending years on the move, Clive takes a deep breath and states…“We are home and we are so happy” at Seachange Arundel.

It is here that Clive remembers every day not just on ANZAC Day, and he will continue to remember, and it is through his lifetime of contributions to Australia through the Army ranks and the VVAA that the younger generation will not forget. Seachange Arundel is so very proud of all Clive’s contributions past, present and ongoing, to Australia and importantly this community

Here Comes The Bride

26 April 2016 by Terence Moyana

Don’t we all love the soothing sound of bells, an old fashioned love story, a happy ending and the occasional wedding is always a bonus. Put all these elements together and we have a best seller, a hit movie and a very happy couple living and loving life together within the Seachange community, where they met. This story plays out like a Hollywood movie, reads like a romance novel and sounds too good to be true. But trust me this love story is five years in the making and in a matter of weeks this couple will be married before close family and friends and this is a first for both Seachange Arundel and Emerald Lakes. Love is in the air and excitement is building!

Sue and Stuart are so very eager and thrilled for their upcoming wedding at the end of the month and rightly so. They finish each other’s sentences, they smile continuously at each other and they both have ‘the spark’ – this is truly a lovely couple who are in love and owe it all to and thank Seachange Lifestyle Resorts.

Both, Sue and Stuart were long-time residents at Seachange Arundel and this is where this love story starts and flourished. Sue, with a twinkle in her eye says that Stuart is her ‘perfect match’ and that he is the one she has always been in search of. Look no further as this perfectly matched couple is home and so happy at Seachange Emerald Lakes after making the switch sixteen months ago to start and continue their life together.

Upon their engagement they decided a new location was in order and it was a simple decision to make moving from Seachange Arundel to Seachange Emerald Lakes, on the lake. They thrive in this over 50s community based lifestyle and attribute their happiness to Seachange as it was within this community that they met and well, love blossomed. Both agree that the lifestyle offered at, Seachange Arundel and Emerald Lakes is conducive to socialising, functions and simply meeting like-minded people at a stage in their life where they want to live, feel safe and be happy each day, together. Both communities of course raise their glass to the happy couple and wish them well – cheers to the newlyweds!
