Construction Update

27 April 2015 by Shane Cresser

Leo

A message from Project Manager – Leo Botham:

At Seachange Village Arundel the construction team returned to work in January refreshed by the holiday break and focused on completing the Village Green.

The Village Green was officially opened on February 12.

With this new facility completed, the construction teams are now working in earnest on the final stages of the new homes.

Seachange has now officially released its collection of larger home product, surrounded by plenty of green open space.

The homes have been designed to front the adjacent 1.8ha open space parkland Banksia Grove which is for the exclusive use of Seachange residents; a lucky few will even have direct access from their homes.

The homes are already under construction, with the majority due for completion this year, and are among the final release at Seachange Village Arundel.

Each of the homes in the release will include three bedrooms, two bathrooms plus powder room and a double lock-up car garage. They include an open plan kitchen and family room and separate dinning room, which opens out to a covered alfresco outdoor area.

They also feature quality fittings and finishes, stone benchtops, gourmet oven, stainless-steel dishwasher, tiles and 100% wool carpet.

You’ll love the way you live in this new colourful haven of native plants, birds and wildlife.

Community Spirit is Alive and Well at Seachange Village Arundel

Robert

A message from Community Manager – Robert Eyears:

Since commencing as Community Manager at Seachange Village Arundel eight months ago, I have been amazed by the incredible community spirit and impressed by our very active residents. A large number of shows and events have been held in both the Country Club and external venues.

The Art Show and Christmas Lights events were stand out examples of what a group of like-minded people can achieve! The dedicated residents’ Social Committee coordinates and produces all events to a very high professional standard.

The key objective of my role is to ensure all our residents are made to feel welcome, secure, comfortable and ‘at home’ in the Seachange community.

As well as the new Village Green we have completed our small dog off-leash park and in time for this year’s Anzac Day, the new Anzac Memorial Square.

As our residents indicated they wanted more open space, we have put in automatic security gates for them to access the Coombabah Lakelands Reserve – the Gold Coast’s biggest back yard adjacent to our over 50’s resort.

Our residents have also been actively involved in supporting the surrounding community with the Village’s social club hosting a number of onsite events with profits going to local charities including Gold Coast homeless and prostate cancer.

Seachange Residents’ Gift to the Community

21 April 2015 by Shane Cresser

Seachange Village Arundel’s 5-star Country Club was the recipient of a new full sized billiards table, a donation from one of its original residents Noeleen Misak.

‘There is a group of over 50’s villages on the Gold Coast that engage in inter-club challenges, however Seachange needed a full size table to participate,’ says Seachange resident Peter Misak.

The problem was solved by Peter’s wife, Noeleen Misak, who donated the table to the community on behalf of her husband Peter, who were among the first residents of Seachange when the village opened over five years ago.

Peter’s ongoing health issues originally prompted the move to Seachange so he could be confident knowing Noeleen would be in a safe, friendly community. Once at Seachange Peter found that the active and nourishing lifestyle gave him a new lease on life, and became so energised that he even bought the café in the shopping centre across the road.

‘The billiards table is a gift to Seachange, as a thank you to the community for our wonderful past five years here,’ says Noeleen & Peter.

Noeleen originally considered donating a trophy, but Peter decided the Country Club “did not need a dust catcher”, but rather something more tangible which could be used for the enjoyment of many residents and add to the many facilities and amenities the community offers.

Peter has played competition snooker since the age of 14, each year making the finals in the Seachange club snooker title, and has also been an active member and title winner of the lawn bowls club.

‘Keeping active keeps you healthy. The inter-club challenge between different resorts engenders a lot of friendships and also sparks social events’, continues Peter. ‘We talk about what we do and how it works, so we get ideas from each other.’

“The billiards table is a gift to Seachange as a thank you to the community”

‘It’s only going to lead to bigger and better things for everyone. I love the concept of these resorts; it’s wonderful.’

Phil Goodman, Project Director, applauded the Misak’s donation of the billard table. ‘The Seachange vision is to nourish the mind, body and soul through learning, community and recreational facilities’ he said. ‘It is wonderful to see how the community in action extends and improves on the existing facilities.

You Won’t Call This a “Retirement Living Community”

1 April 2015 by Shane Cresser

We like the term “retirement living community.” We really do. But it just doesn’t do Seachange Emerald Lakes justice. So, why are we so adamant that a term like retirement living community or retirement village doesn’t apply to Seachange Emerald Lakes? We will explain further, but the short answer is that if you combine the best elements of an over 50’s lifestyle community with the best elements of an over 50’s resort, you get Seachange Emerald Lakes.

When we created Seachange Emerald Lakes and our sister community Seachange Village Arundel, we set out to create something that was better than the standard senior community or retirement village. We didn’t want to be one of “those places” where people move when they are too ill or too disabled to take care of themselves.

We decided that Seachange Emerald Lakes was going to be a place where people in their 50’s or older choose to move while they still have enough health and energy to enjoy life. We decided that Seachange Emerald Lakes would be a place where active seniors could meet like-minded people and spend their golden years happy like they are supposed to.

The end result is like an over 50’s gated country club estate that will be built around a 5-star country club. Seachange not only has world class facilities, but it is also conveniently close to infrastructure and amenities such as shopping, medical care and recreational facilities such as golf courses, and lakes.

Our 5-star country club will help provide a lifestyle that many wish they could have lived when they were younger. Our dining room will have both a stage and a dance floor built in. We offer an indoor pool and an outdoor pool, along with tennis court and a gymnasium. The bar and the club lounge allow you to relax and socialise.

Your golden years should be just that: golden years. If we have anything to say about it, that’s exactly what they will be. To learn more about Seachange Emerald Lakes, call us today: 1800 559 669.

Retirement villages or Over 50s communities?

19 March 2015 by Shane Cresser

Not too long ago, there was no such thing as a over 50s community. There were plenty of retirement villages, but nothing called a over 50s community. So, what’s the difference? When they were first created, retirement villages were meant to be peaceful communities where people spent their golden years resting and taking it easy.

This was OK because people who were 55 were a lot “older” forty years ago than they are now. Thanks to advances in health and fitness, people are enjoying more years in their lives and more life in their years than ever before. This is where the over 50s community comes in.

Unlike prototypical retirement villages, over 50s communities are built to be vibrant and vital. They are places where people of retirement age can find plenty of enjoyable ways to be active and to socialise with like-minded people.

Seachange Emerald Lakes

Retirement villages of the past usually had a pool and a clubhouse. Some even had tennis courts. Fast forward to 2015 and our over 50’s gated country club estate in Emerald Lakes. Seachange Emerald Lakes is an active adult community with facilities that will include a private 5-star country club for our residents.

Our residents will be able to enjoy an outdoor pool, an indoor pool, a spa, a sauna, a steam room, a gymnasium, a massage room, tennis court, a fully equipped kitchen, BBQ facilities, a woodwork room, an arts and crafts room, a cinema, dining facilities that are so large they even include a stage area, a bar, a club lounge and a private dining room. There is even a library.

Seachange Emerald Lakes has direct access to 37ha recreational lake, plus restaurants and coffee club giving its residents plenty of opportunities to socialise over lunch, dinner or cold beverages.

If you want to have pets, that’s fine. We would never make you give up your best friend to move into Seachange Emerald Lakes.
