Seachange for Brisbane Retirees

19 August 2015 by Terence Moyana

Brisbane retirees Ben & Ruth Benelisha swapped their inner city home of Brisbane for a lifestyle change at Seachange Village Arundel over 50s lifestyle resort – which is currently setting the benchmark in over 50’s resort style living at the Gold Coast.

WHEN Ben and Ruth Benelisha retired, they knew it was time for a sea change. Retirement for us was about enjoying a vibrant, active lifestyle that afforded us freedom, independence and security,” Ben said.

“Although we had enjoyed our time in Brisbane, we were tired of the constant gardening and home maintenance. It was time for a change.”

The couple swapped their suburban Brisbane home in favour of coastal lifestyle change at the award winning over 50s lifestyle resort, Seachange Village Arundel on the Gold Coast.

Located in an established suburb in the centre of the Gold Coast, Seachange Village Arundel is successfully enticing retirees with its ‘easy resort living’. The community offers modern, low-maintenance living in a secure gated complex and a five-star Country Club with facilities including a pool and cinema.

“We fell in love with Seachange Village Arundel immediately,” Ruth said.

“We were fortunate to take a guided tour with one of the existing residents and they were able to tell us how much they enjoyed living at Seachange.

“They had made some great new friends and they enjoyed a huge variety of recreational and social activities every week. They had the freedom to enjoy a relaxed easygoing lifestyle or one that was a bit more action packed.

“We knew that Seachange Village Arundel was the perfect solution for us.”

The Benelishas purchased a home in the village, where prices start from $469,000. All homes are single-level dwellings set amoungst lush landscaping that provides a sense of peace an tranquility. Every home is drenched with premium finishes featuring 2.7m ceilings, stone benches and European appliances.

Best of all, they say they don’t have any maintenance worries. All lawn and garden maintenance is taken care of by Seachange Village Arundel.

“I’ve finished with all that outdoor work – I can watch one of the in-house landscapers do it for me,” said Mr Benelisha.

The couple has taken to village life with enthusiasm. They help run the communities Welcome Centre, they dance, organise parties and walk in the adjacent conservation listed Coombabah Lakelands Recreation Reserve to which the community has direct access.

They also regularly access the world class 5-star Country Club which is integral to the Seachange Village Arundel lifestyle.

The Country Club also hosts the Moncrieff University of the Third Age (U3A) campus. Residents are able to participate in a variety of courses available, along with U3A members.

They can also join the multitude of social groups that have formed at the Club.

“We love living at Seachange,” Ruth said.

“Everything we need is at our fingertips – there’s a shopping centre across the road and we enjoy taking walks in the wetland reserve next door. There’s a bus stop outside, the Helensvale Train Station is just 5km away and it’s also an easy drive to Brisbane to visit family and friends via the M1.”

Seachange Project Director Phil Goodman said a growing portion of residents at both Seachange Village Arundel and its sister community, Seachange Emerald Lakes, were coming from Brisbane.

“Many former city dwellers like Ben and Ruth are escaping the rat race and moving to the area,” he said.

“The Gold Coast is emerging as Queensland’s retirement capital with the highest number of over 50s lifestyle resorts in the region, and Seachange Village Arundel and Seachange Emerald Lakes are leading the pack.

“Seniors are seeking the low maintenance rewarding nature of lifestyle resorts after a lifetime of mowing lawns and cleaning pools.

“Seachange Village Arundel offers them the ultimate alternative – spacious homes, luxury fittings and gardens that are fully maintained”.

He said he expected more city dwellers to flock to the new Seachange Village Emerald Lakes as construction on its five-star Country Club neared completion. Like the Country Club at Seachange Village Arundel, it will offer a wealth of facilities like a heated pool, craft room, lounges, dining areas and more.

“At Seachange, our residents are discovering that they have more time to nourish their minds, bodies and souls and love the way they live.”

Why We Not Only Allow, but Encourage Pet Ownership

12 August 2015 by Shane Cresser

At Seachange Emerald Lakes, it is our mission to provide the very best in active adult lifestyle resorts. One of the cornerstones of this is to allow our homeowners the same rights they would have in their former homes. We feel that one of the best rights is pet ownership.

For the safety of our residents, we have a 10kg limit on pets and for the harmony of the community we do have a few breed restrictions. However, that doesn’t stop residents from having their favourite pet to keep them company. Over the years, there has been numerous research done on the benefits of pet ownership, especially later in life. Even though we are an active adult lifestyle resort at Emerald Lakes, we still know how great it is to come home to a dog or a cat who is ready to shower you with affection when you get home from a busy day.

Benefits of Pet Ownership

The research on pet ownership is extensive and well-documented: here are some of the highlights.

Pet owners are more likely to be happy than those who don’t own pets. Interacting with a dog or cat has been found to increase the “happy” neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine. These make you happy and help you relax.

Pet owners have been found to have lower triglyceride levels, cholesterol levels and blood pressure than those who don’t own pets. In addition, heart patients with pets survive on an average of more than twice as long as those without pets.

More Benefits for Dog Owners

Especially in an active adult community, walking your dog helps you meet and interact with more people on a daily basis. We provide plenty of social opportunities here, but dog owners seem to feel a special kinship.

Walking a dog every day provides exercise. It is a great start to the day for those who are active and is a great way to guarantee twenty life-extending minutes of walking every day.

Your Current Home vs Seachange Emerald Lakes: You Decide Which is Best

5 August 2015 by Shane Cresser

When we developed our over 50’s active lifestyle resort in Emerald Lakes, we went heavy on the “active” for a reason. We wanted to create a resort that helps people over 50 enjoy their lives to the fullest while they still have the energy to enjoy the activities they love. We think we have done a great job, and so do our residents.

A lot of people delay moving out of their family homes until they feel like they need to. Seachange Emerald Lakes, we decided to “flip the script” and help active over 50’s move by choice to a community where they can live a dream lifestyle.

Your Current Home

Let’s say you have done well for yourself. Your current home has three or four bedrooms, a giant backyard and a lifetime of family “treasures” that you really don’t care much about anymore. You notice that some of the older people in your neighbourhood are moving out and young families are moving in. They are nice, but you really don’t feel like being in a neighbourhood full of kids and young parents anymore. Or perhaps your street is full of renters who don’t care as much for their rental property as you do for your lovely home. Eventually, you find that you have less and less in common with your neighbours.

Seachange Emerald Lakes

At Seachange Emerald Lakes, your neighbours are all as young as you are. They have the same memories and cultural references. You can take advantage of your free golf buggy and free five year golf membership because the golf course is right around the block. The five star country club has world class kitchen facilities. If you want to venture outside of your community, every amenity you can think of is less than 20 minutes away.

Now ask yourself: where would you rather live?

3 August 2015 by Shane Cresser

Multi-award winning Gold Coast lifestyle resort, Seachange Arundel has secured its place amongst Queensland’s most successful active over 50s communities after winning the 2015 Master Builders Award.

The Pradella Property Ventures’ community was voted the best Lifestyle Accommodation for Seniors  by an independent committee, which recognises excellence in the Queensland building and construction industry.

Seachange has now achieved awards in the seniors community category from each of the major Queensland building organisations.

Designed with the philosophy to nourish the mind, body and soul, Seachange offers residents a variety of architecturally designed homes with unrivalled amenities through the community’s 5-star country club, and direct access to the neighbouring Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area.

Seachange Project Director Phil Goodman said the community showcased the developer’s commitment to create a benchmark over 50s lifestyle resort that allows its residents to enjoy a vibrant, active lifestyle –in essence to  “love the way they live”.

“We are extremely proud of what we have delivered at Seachange. We have successfully developed a quality product offering for the growing baby boomers demographic.”

Mr Goodman said the award is a great achievement for the community, which continues to grow, with the final stages now selling.

“We are catering to an increasing segment of Australia’s population who demand very specific housing, so recognition from Master Builders has provided a strong endorsement of the vision we set out to achieve,” he stated.
