Seachange cruises to success with word of mouth sales

18 September 2015 by Terence Moyana

WORD of mouth has proved the best sales tool for Gold Coast over 50s resort Seachange, with more than 50 per cent of recent sales being introduced by existing residents.

More than 300 residents recently attended the launch of Seachange’s new referral program, which aims to tap into this form of promotion.

Referees will go in the draw to win an exclusive ms Caledonia Sky expedition to the Kimberley for two people. The 11-day Kimberley Coast cruise visits attractions like King George River and Falls, Montgomery Reef, Jar Island and Prince Frederick Harbour. The prize, valued at $25,000, includes tours, flights and transfers.

The new referral program is being undertaken in unison with leading travel provider APT and is open to anyone who introduces a friend to either of Seachange’s two Gold Coast based communities.

“Most of our Seachange residents heard about our communities through word of mouth and we believed this campaign would be a great way to give back to our loyal supporters,” said Seachange Project Director Phil Goodman.

“Although traditional advertising is still extremely valuable, we believe that strengthening relationships with our existing homeowners and continuing to deliver an exceptional product will be one of the best ways of increasing awareness of the Seachange brand. It’s an exciting time for the Seachange brand, which is focused on delivering vibrant and active lifestyles for over 50s.”

Seachange – which has luxury resort communities totalling nearly $300 million on the Gold Coast – believes word of mouth advertising is the way of the future and will become a growing focus for the burgeoning over 50s property sector.

Seachange Village Arundel and Seachange Village Emerald Lakes are designed to deliver active over 50s a happy and healthy life amongst like-minded people. Both communities offer architecturally designed homes and access to a five-star country club that nourishes the mind, body and soul. The country club includes luxury facilities such as dining areas, club lounges, games rooms, library, cinema, craft room, workshop, floodlit tennis courts, indoor heated pool and outdoor lagoon pool, spa and gym, sauna and dance floor.

Seachange delivers the best for boomers with new country club

18 September 2015 by Terence Moyana

The expansion of Pradella Property Ventures’ Seachange Emerald Lakes continues with the launch of its $4 million state of the art country club – believed to be one of the best of its kind in an over 50s lifestyle resort in Australia.

Members of the political, business and property communities as well as residents of the $75 million community attended the opening of the five-star country club, located in the heart of Emerald Lakes, on Wednesday in a VIP gala event.

Leading social commentator and author, Bernard Salt, who was the feature speaker on the evening, welcomed the addition of the new country club.

With baby boomers currently driving the Gold Coast’s powering property market, Mr Salt said Seachange Emerald Lakes was the right fit for the demographic, which valued amenities within walking distance, along with connectivity.

“Baby Boomers and beyond prize lifestyle rich amenities with close proximity to shopping, dining and major entertainment facilities,” he said.

He stated that quality over 50s communities that promoted healthy, vibrant and active lifestyles such as Seachange Emerald Lakes were in short supply.

The launch of the country club follows the sale of over 50 per cent of the boutique community in just 12 months. The first residents moved into the estate late last year.

Seachange Emerald Lakes project director Phil Goodman said the completion of the country club marked an exciting time for the community and its residents.

“We have been eagerly awaiting the completion of the country club as we look to extend our community and welcome more residents into our wonderful resort,” he said.

“We our proud to be setting the benchmark in over 50s lifestyle resorts offering a country club with amenities that will nourish our resident’s minds, bodies and souls.”

Designed by Wiltshire Stevens Architects and built by Alders Construction, the country club is a multi-use building designed to foster a sense of community, with residents doing just that the very next morning, swapping stories of the night over a cup of tea in the Gallery.

The country club features an indoor gym, library, cinema, craft room, outdoor terrace, function space, indoor and outdoor pools, and tennis court.

Wiltshire Stevens architect Dean Wiltshire said the club was designed to be “sophisticated yet relaxed” and appeal to a high-end clientele.

“We wanted the building to be timeless, so we have used a lot of stone and strong lines. We also wanted to generate a bit of excitement with the roof forms,” he said.

He said the club captured a variety of views, from the lake to the nearby Metricon stadium.

Viewings are by appointment through the onsite Sales Centre on 1800 559 669.

Benefits of Arts and Crafts in Over 50s

7 September 2015 by Shane Cresser

Our over 50s lifestyle resort in Arundel is one of the most active you will ever see. But not everybody takes advantage of tennis, golf, lawn bowling and other activities all of the time. A lot of our residents are very talented at creating arts and crafts.

On 12th September 2015, we are holding our 4th Annual Seachange Art and Craft Exhibition from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at our 5-Star Country Club and have a selected amount of free tickets for guests who register early. We encourage our residents to follow their muses and do whatever they want to do to enjoy their retirement years. We know that being active in any labour of love keeps us healthy.

Here are some benefits of arts and crafts for people over 50.

Socialisation

We provide ample opportunity for our residents to socialise, but any shared experience is a great way for people to connect. Those who create arts and crafts together seem to form a special “artist’s bond” that makes for years of close friendship and a solid social network.

Intellectual Stimulation

Recent studies indicate that participation in activities such as arts and crafts “exercises” the brain and helps people stay sharp as they age. Art, in particular, is good for stretching one’s limitations and learning to view the world in a different way.

Emotional Wellbeing

The act of creating arts and crafts allows us to more fully access our emotions and express our innermost feelings. Studies indicate that participating in the arts enhances self-esteem and can ward off depression.

Communication

Arts and crafts are a form of visual communication. Those who have trouble speaking can often communicate better visually. Art is a great way to do that.

Enhanced Leisure Time

For those who create arts and crafts, the time spent doing it usually serves as “happy time.” No matter what the project, it’s a great way to spend leisure time.

The Security of Living at Seachange Village Arundel

2 September 2015 by Shane Cresser

At Seachange Village Arundel, we have gone out of our way to provide a state of the art over 50’s lifestyle village. We feature 24 hour security to make sure that you are able to live the way you want to in a place where you want to live with the people you want to enjoy life with, something you won’t find at a traditional retirement village.

We have two ways of providing security to our homeowners. First, we provide everything you could get in a world class resort, a stone’s throw away from your front door. Second, we provide state of the art security to keep you safe.

How We Keep You Safe

First of all, Seachange Village Arundel is a gated community. Besides our staff, only residents and their guests are allowed access. But we also make sure that your home is secure once you are inside the village. Visitors are identified with a guest lanyard so you can be assured they have been invited in. Each home has an electronic remote control garage, a telephone and an intercom, with some of our newer homes fitted with a video intercom. Internal phones are located around the village for ease of contacting your home or someone else in the community. To make the village even safer, an onsite caretaker is always present at Seachange Village Arundel. This ensures that everything runs smoothly and the lifestyle is as safe as possible.

And You Don’t Have to Leave to Have a Great Day

While we encourage an active lifestyle, we also provide the amenities as good as or better than any over 50’s resort on the Gold Coast. Here are just a few of the world class facilities we feature at Seachange Village Arundel:

Golf putting greens, golf driving nets, championship lawn bowls, floodlit tennis courts, heated indoor pool and spa, floodlit tennis courts, a tennis pavilion, a cinema, an arts and crafts studio, a sauna, a library, a gymnasium, a residents’ kitchen, a workshop, a sports bar, Teppanyaki BBQ, a wine cellar, a dance floor, a meeting room and more.

For those days you choose to go out, you are less than twenty minutes from four great golf courses and a host of Gold Coast amenities and let’s not forget the fully equipped shopping centre directly across the road.

Only 10% of Australians over 50 Get Enough Exercise

25 August 2015 by Shane Cresser

At our active adult community called Seachange Village Arundel, you can be one of the 10% who always get enough exercise.

If you are a senior who doesn’t live in an active adult community such as Seachange Village Arundel, you may not be getting enough exercise. That is according to the Government of Victoria, who have a great online resource called “Better Health Channel.”

Better Health Channel draws on a host of research into ageing. It all indicates that for those of us over 50, exercise helps us maintain our independence longer, reduces the risk of getting sick and helps us recover from illness faster. All load-bearing exercise helps us keep bone density and muscular strength, too.

In addition, forms of exercise that are often done in groups, such as tennis, walking, dancing or cycling, provide a social component that enhances our lifestyle at any age. Here are some statistics and facts about exercise, courtesy of the State Government of Victoria.

Are You One of the Active 10%?

According to Better Health Channel, only 10% of Australians over 50 get enough exercise to extend their lives or provide any cardiovascular benefit. There are some studies indicating that more than half of what used to be seen as “inevitable decline due to age” can actually be avoided by exercise.

If you are over 50, it is important to stay active. If you are over 65, it is even more important. Luckily, it is never too late to start getting exercise. No matter how old you are, how “out of shape” you may think you are, the human body always responds to exercise.

This is documented in the two irrefutable physical laws upon which physical therapy is based: Davis’ Law and Wolff’s Law. We won’t bother you with technical or medical jargon, but the bottom line is this: if you exercise, your bone and muscle will improve according to the demands you place upon them.

Benefits of Exercise for Over 50’s

Muscle Mass: If you don’t exercise, you can expect to lose 3.5 kg of lean muscle mass every ten years. While that doesn’t sound like much, remember that muscle burns fat even when resting. In addition, the muscle you lose is usually “fast twitch” muscle, which governs coordination and strength.

When you exercise, especially with any form of resistance training, your muscle mass will begin to increase, even if you haven’t been exercising for long. In fact, many studies are beginning to suggest that we don’t lose muscle mass due to “age,” but due to not exercising our muscles. The bottom line: exercise builds muscle and helps stop muscle mass from declining.

Bone Density: Your bones are storehouses for minerals such as calcium. Those minerals are what give your bones density. If you aren’t putting weight on your bones, they stop storing minerals and become weak. This process starts when you are 40 but really kicks into gear by 50 if you aren’t careful.

If you exercise, especially weight bearing exercise such as walking, you are keeping your bones dense, strong and healthy, making you “immune” to conditions such as osteoporosis.

Heart and Lungs: There are many schools of thought on what constitutes “cardiovascular conditioning.” A study from last month in the US suggests that 20 minutes of walking per day is enough to provide cardiovascular benefits. Traditional knowledge suggests that you have to raise your heartbeat to 70 percent of a number derived by subtracting your age from 220 to claim cardiovascular benefits.

The more recent study suggests that walking 20 minutes per day can extend your life as well as most forms of exercise.

Weight: We know this is a “no-brainer:” exercise helps you lose weight. It also reduces the stress on your joints.

Why Seachange Village Arundel is so Great for Active Over 50’s

We provide numerous opportunities to exercise and participate in sports however you want. If you like to exercise alone, you can. If you want to enjoy being active with kindred spirits who are also over 50, you will find plenty of “exercise buddies” at Seachange Village Arundel.

Imagine Living in a Village Filled with Kindred Spirits

19 August 2015 by Shane Cresser

If you are looking for a lifestyle resort on the Gold Coast instead of a retirement or old age home, you know who you are. You are over 50 but you are more active than many of your peers. As you have gotten older, you have done well enough that you don’t need to work anymore. Now, it’s time to enjoy the rest of your life. You have kept yourself healthy and you have plenty of energy.

As you look down the street of your current home, you realise you are different. Many of your older friends have moved away. There are some nice younger families in your neighbourhood, but it isn’t quite the same as when they were all your age. No matter how nice they are, they haven’t lived through what you have lived through. They haven’t seen what you have seen.

No matter how well you get along with your neighbours, there is something missing: a feeling of kinship.

What it’s Like at Seachange Village Arundel

At Seachange Village Arundel, you will find an entire village full of active over 50’s like yourself. We offer the finest in active over 50’s living with world class facilities. With premium resort facilities such as a sports bar, heated indoor swimming pool, cinema, lighted tennis courts and championship outdoor bowls, we make it easy for you to be active without even leaving the comfort of your own village.

But the best part of all is all of the kindred spirits you will meet at Seachange Village Arundel. You will be living in a village filled with active over 50’s who are just like you. While they may be from different walks of life, they have lived through the same times and faced most of the same challenges as you.

They understand what you are feeling. They see life a lot like you do. They are also there to enjoy their later years with the same passion they put into becoming successful.
