Riverside Coomera

Seachange Riverside Coomera Country Club opens its doors

29 July 2019 by Terence Moyana

On the 19th of July home owners at Seachange Riverside Coomera were able to enjoy the first celebrations in their brand new Country Club.  The spectacular facility was delivered to the community ahead of schedule and is designed to provide an ideal setting for homeowners to come together to share common interests and help to enrich each other’s minds, bodies and souls.

The Riverside setting for the development has been the inspiration for the design of the Country Club to harmonise nature with the interiors by using natural elements such as stone, timber and plants.  This generates a soothing organic atmosphere capturing texture and a colour palette synonymous with the environment providing warmth to a space that will be the heart and soul of the community.

The gardens surrounding the exterior of the building have been inspired by the Arizona landscape with environmentally hardy succulents combined with rustic timber and stone.  On entry you step onto the cool tones of stone patterned by nature and complimented by the timber feature wall and stunning metal chandelier.

The carpets used in the building are solution dyed nylon with recycled content in keeping with the projects approach to sustainability.  The artwork gently carries the natural theme up on to the walls sublimely hinting at nature through abstract formations and complimenting the palette.

The Lounge has the feel of a desert lodge retreat boasting large stone feature walls with a built fireplace and shelves flanking it.  This room has the ultimate feeling of comfort and rustic appeal.  Beautiful metal and glass pendants hang from the ceiling bringing in a bold statement which flows into the coffee and side tables.  Classic sofas and tub chairs upholstered in rich blues and beige display textured cushions mixing all the tones on to one canvas.  The beautiful timber laminate floors give the room a warm finish with beautiful woven rugs softening the space and anchoring the design.

The Function Room has endless glass windows and doors overlooking the resorts bowling green and twin pickle ball courts.  This room has lots of natural light and an abundance of space, a perfect spot when meeting friends for a game of cards or when attending large functions.  A beautifully fitted kitchen and bar, using timber and stone, carry the theme with a hint of a restaurant environment with the beautiful finishes and lighting.  Large reclaimed timber beams run the length of the bar and kitchen in their natural splendour.  The function room tables are finished in the walnut tones with ergonomically designed black chairs.

The cinema is reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour adorned with images iconic stars of the golden age framed by upholstered walls in rich red velvet.  The large screen and AV system combine with large leather recliner chairs for the ultimate cinema experience.  The Workshop and the Arts and Crafts rooms are generous in space and fitted for purpose for patrons to spend their time being social and creative.

The Wellness Centre is offset from the main Clubhouse and has the feel of a luxury spa.  On entry you are greeted with a natural living wall, once again bringing the outdoor elements indoors.  The gym area is a generous space with modern equipment for all of your exercise needs. The Wellness Centre is completed by a treatment room, sauna, steam room and bowls lockers and overlooks the heated pool and spa.  The deck adjoining the pool includes built in seating with large fire pit and ample sun loungers.

If you would like to inspect this stunning facility our sales office is open Monday – Saturday 9am–5pm. Or join us for the official opening on the 10th of August, further details here.

Why is everyone talking about pickleball?

11 July 2019 by Terence Moyana

It is one of the fastest growing sports in the US, with over 3 million pickleball players, and it has started to become popular in Australia since 2015. Pickleball is a low-impact sport that is easy to learn and can be played at almost any age, so seniors can get the benefits of regular exercise.

What is pickleball?

Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badmington and table tennis. It was created in 1965 by US Congressman Joel Pritchard and some of his friends in America while they were looking for some entertainment. The story goes that Pritchard was eager to play badminton with his friends one afternoon but couldn’t find the equipment so they had to improvise with some table tennis paddles, a whiffle ball and lowering the net on the badminton court.

If you’re wondering where the name ‘Pickleball’ came from, it was actually after Pritchard’s cocker spaniel Pickles, who enjoyed going after the ball while his owners played.

Even though the sport was created in the 60’s, it became popular in 2005 with the establishment of the USA Pickleball Association (USAPA).

Pickleball came to Australia in 2015 thanks to Gabi Plumm, president of the Pickleball Association of Australia. Since its arrival, it has grown steadily and it has become predominantly popular within people aged over 50.

Where can I play?

At Seachange Riverside Coomera we have designed a Country Club that offers a multitude of amenities and community spaces that promote social interaction and an active lifestyle. These facilities include twin pickleball courts so residents and their guests can play at any time of the year.

The Country Club is the latest addition to this exclusive waterfront resort and it will be delivered to the community by the end of July.

If you would like to visit this stunning resort, we invite you to visit us at 29 Ghostgum Grove, Upper Coomera from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, or call us on 1800 006 603 for more information.

Try before you buy – Join us for our first open day!

7 June 2019 by Terence Moyana

Seachange Riverside Coomera is opening its doors on the 22nd June from 9am, giving potential purchasers a taste of luxury resort living designed for over 50s. Guests will be welcomed at the main entrance of the resort, where they will be able to see the progress of the soon-to-be-completed Country Club (to be delivered to the community in August 2019).

The newly released display homes will be opened for inspection and guests will also get the opportunity to visit the stunning River House, where they will enjoy live entertainment, fresh coffee, complimentary morning tea and the chance to enter the lucky door prizes.

The “River House” was designed to be an informal entertaining space, a place that residents would be able to use as an extension of their own home to entertain family and friends.

“It really is the ideal setting for unwinding and creating memories, or as we like to call them, Seachange Moments. Our current residents have been making excellent use of this stunning facility over the Summer months, hosting BBQs and enjoying the pool and gym” says Director of Sales and Marketing Alex McMahon.

The Open Day will be a chance for people who are interested in finding out more about this 5-star resort to “try before they buy.” Guests will be able to enjoy an entertaining day and imagine what it would be like to use these recreational facilities every day.

For those who have not yet visited the resort or are just thinking about the future, this is an ideal event to attend. The Open Day will run from 9am-12pm on Saturday 22nd June at 29 Ghostgum Grove, Upper Coomera. Call 1800 006 603 or RSVP here to book your place.

Five benefits of playing lawn bowls

23 May 2019 by Terence Moyana

Lawn bowls is a popular sport and leisure activity in Australia, especially within people over 55 years of age. It is a great way to develop certain skills, like coordination and precision, and it is a low impact activity that can be enjoyed by anyone. Seachange have included lawn bowls greens as part of the array of facilities that our residents at Arundel, Riverside Coomera and Toowoomba will enjoy daily.

Some of the benefits of playing lawn bowls include:

Muscle strengthening:

As you walk with the extra weight of a bowling ball in your hands, you flex and stretch muscles. This helps to improve flexibility, mobility and core strength.

Reduces the risk of contracting some diseases:

It is well known that having a sedentary lifestyle is one of the main factors that can lead to a heart problem. Lawn bowling can reduce the risk of contracting a heart attack or a stroke, as it helps your body to utilise oxygen better and contributes to good blood circulation and blood pressure.

Coordination and precision:

Playing lawn bowls requires precision, as the main objective is to get as many of your bowls as close as possible to the ‘jack’. Therefore, this activity involves concentration and enhancement of hand and eye coordination.

Mental health:

Lawn bowling can help your mental health as it contributes to reduce stress and improve your mood. Exercise makes you release endorphins, which trigger a positive feeling in your body, making you feel good about yourself.

Social interaction:

The simplicity of the game and the low-impact exercise it involves makes it attractive for many people to play. Friends and family can play together as it can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age, gender or physical condition.

Location, Location, Location

18 April 2019 by Terence Moyana

They say position is everything. This is certainly the case for residents of Seachange over 50s Lifestyle Resort at Coomera. Home owners at Seachange Riverside Coomera enjoy the best of both worlds, being positioned on a quiet and secluded bend of pristine riverfront, yet with a comprehensive range of quality amenities and services (shops, doctors, eateries and more) all just minutes away.

Indeed, all residents are surrounded by peace, quiet and serene river views, while also having less than ten minutes’ drive to every convenience – a complete position perfect.

With the recently opened $500 million Westfield Coomera and the addition of a new shopping centre planned to be built nearby, residents at Riverside Coomera will have easy access to a mixture of retail outlets, dining and medical centres.

Additionally, the Pacific Motorway M1 upgrade Mudgeeraba to Varsity Lakes is being upgraded, providing additional capacity to meet current and future traffic demands as the wider Gold Coast region is experiencing strong growth and development along the coastline.

Graham Murphy, resident at Seachange Riverside Coomera said “The water front location of the resort was a big selling point for us (my wife Jayne and I) because we adored it when we lived on the waterfront before, so we wanted to get back close to the water.”

“We have the advantage here of being waterfront but also a bit of a tree change as well; it’s got both of those advantages. We were surprised, when we moved here, how close it is to everything! How many shopping centres are close by, plenty of facilities without having to drive a long way.  Also, is very close to Brisbane if you need to go up there,” said Jayne (Graham’s wife).

Seachange Riverside Coomera offers the whole package, a sense of belonging, a secure and low maintenance place to call home that offers an even greater chance to focus on life’s joys.

“We had looked at other places and they had a decent appeal but they were away from medical and the other facilities that you need when you get to our age, but this place has it all,” said Graham.

With all this community infrastructure being delivered, Seachange’s Coomera Resort is perfectly located to take full advantage of all the upgrades on offer and is in close proximity to Coomera Rail station with a $163 million rail duplication project recently completed.

Closer to home, the resort residents are enjoying their own newly completed amenities with the communal River House facility now completed and surrounded by a pool, bocce lawn and established gardens.  The resorts main entry statement will be completed this month and the main country club facility is on track for completion mid 2019.

Those interested in finding out more can visit Seachange Riverside Coomera with display homes open Mon-Sat 9am – 5pm, or call 1800 006 603.
