Seachange Emerald Lakes now has 21 homes occupied, with a further 22 under construction.

Ten lots were cut this month in preparation for construction in mid-April.

The first floor of the Country Club was poured and nearly all structural steel put in place.

Landscaping design also commenced to incorporate an area where residents can sit and enjoy water views.

You Won’t Call This a “Retirement Living Community”

1 April 2015 by Shane Cresser

We like the term “retirement living community.” We really do. But it just doesn’t do Seachange Emerald Lakes justice. So, why are we so adamant that a term like retirement living community or retirement village doesn’t apply to Seachange Emerald Lakes? We will explain further, but the short answer is that if you combine the best elements of an over 50’s lifestyle community with the best elements of an over 50’s resort, you get Seachange Emerald Lakes.

When we created Seachange Emerald Lakes and our sister community Seachange Village Arundel, we set out to create something that was better than the standard senior community or retirement village. We didn’t want to be one of “those places” where people move when they are too ill or too disabled to take care of themselves.

We decided that Seachange Emerald Lakes was going to be a place where people in their 50’s or older choose to move while they still have enough health and energy to enjoy life. We decided that Seachange Emerald Lakes would be a place where active seniors could meet like-minded people and spend their golden years happy like they are supposed to.

The end result is like an over 50’s gated country club estate that will be built around a 5-star country club. Seachange not only has world class facilities, but it is also conveniently close to infrastructure and amenities such as shopping, medical care and recreational facilities such as golf courses, and lakes.

Our 5-star country club will help provide a lifestyle that many wish they could have lived when they were younger. Our dining room will have both a stage and a dance floor built in. We offer an indoor pool and an outdoor pool, along with tennis court and a gymnasium. The bar and the club lounge allow you to relax and socialise.

Your golden years should be just that: golden years. If we have anything to say about it, that’s exactly what they will be. To learn more about Seachange Emerald Lakes, call us today: 1800 559 669.

Retirement villages or Over 50s communities?

19 March 2015 by Shane Cresser

Not too long ago, there was no such thing as a over 50s community. There were plenty of retirement villages, but nothing called a over 50s community. So, what’s the difference? When they were first created, retirement villages were meant to be peaceful communities where people spent their golden years resting and taking it easy.

This was OK because people who were 55 were a lot “older” forty years ago than they are now. Thanks to advances in health and fitness, people are enjoying more years in their lives and more life in their years than ever before. This is where the over 50s community comes in.

Unlike prototypical retirement villages, over 50s communities are built to be vibrant and vital. They are places where people of retirement age can find plenty of enjoyable ways to be active and to socialise with like-minded people.

Seachange Emerald Lakes

Retirement villages of the past usually had a pool and a clubhouse. Some even had tennis courts. Fast forward to 2015 and our over 50’s gated country club estate in Emerald Lakes. Seachange Emerald Lakes is an active adult community with facilities that will include a private 5-star country club for our residents.

Our residents will be able to enjoy an outdoor pool, an indoor pool, a spa, a sauna, a steam room, a gymnasium, a massage room, tennis court, a fully equipped kitchen, BBQ facilities, a woodwork room, an arts and crafts room, a cinema, dining facilities that are so large they even include a stage area, a bar, a club lounge and a private dining room. There is even a library.

Seachange Emerald Lakes has direct access to 37ha recreational lake, plus restaurants and coffee club giving its residents plenty of opportunities to socialise over lunch, dinner or cold beverages.

If you want to have pets, that’s fine. We would never make you give up your best friend to move into Seachange Emerald Lakes.

You Deserve a Seachange

6 March 2015 by Shane Cresser

If you have reached the age where an over 50’s lifestyle community sounds good, you may want to join a growing group of seniors who are enjoying life at Seachange Emerald Lakes. At Seachange Emerald Lakes, we don’t believe that over 50’s should live in a typical retirement community.

We have gone to a lot of work to provide an over 50’s gated country club estate that seems more like a resort than a retirement community. So, how did we decide to make Seachange Emerald Lakes different than the typical retirement community? The short answer: because we believe you should live your golden years as truly golden years.

The Research

When we decided to create a retirement community, we looked closely at retirement community models from across the world. We quickly realised that we didn’t want to create “just another retirement community.” Our research showed us that too many other retirement communities were places people involuntarily went to die after their families could no longer take care of them.

In too many traditional retirement villages, people moved there against their will after they were too ill or too disabled to enjoy their lives. They were full of people who had hung on to their homes, even though they were too big, until family members could no longer give them the care they needed. Then, they were made to give up a lifetime of personal belongings to downsize into a small room in a retirement community.

We decided that we didn’t want to use the traditional model. We decided that we would have an over 50’s lifestyle community that was a five star resort with homes built around it. We wanted a place where people over 50s could come voluntarily to live the lifestyle they deserve to live in their golden years. Ultimately, that is what separates Seachange Emerald Lakes from the typical retirement village: a lifestyle worth moving for right now.

The Results

At Seachange Emerald Lakes, we have built a retirement lifestyle village where active adults over 50 can start living their preferred lifestyle right now. You may end up downsizing your current home, but you are in much better shape to do that when you are still active and healthy than when you become a burden upon your family.

In the meantime, you will be able to enjoy active adult living with your peers at Seachange Emerald Lakes. Think of it as a 20-30 year period where you will be able to live a great life and enjoy the fruits of your labours. In the next 25 years, the percentage of Australians in the 55-75 age group will double, eventually reaching a count of 5.3 million. In other words, communities like Seachange Emerald Lakes will be in very high demand.

We would eventually find great examples for what we wanted to be in the US, particularly Florida. We decided to build an over 50’s resort at Emerald Lakes with a calendar full of activities and opportunities for our residents to engage with life to their utmost. Instead of being dragged, kicking and screaming, into a place they don’t want to live, we have built a place where our residents want to be; they move here voluntarily and happily.

The Core Values

At the top of our core values: active people over 50 sharing experiences and enjoying life with like-minded people on a daily basis. There is nothing like the enriching friendships that are quickly developed at Emerald Lakes. We also decided that the community would be in a location where people dream of spending their golden years.

Seachange Emerald Lakes is located conveniently close to shopping, recreation and medical facilities. It is built around a 5-star country club that enriches your mind, body and soul. To make your lifestyle comfortable, housing is energy-efficient and eco-friendly. We were sure to avoid apartments and high density, creating affordable homes in a medium density community that gives our residents room to breathe.

New era in over 50’s living is revealed

3 March 2015 by Terence Moyana

Seachange Emerald Lakes is leading the charge to create a new era of over 50’s living in the heart of the Gold Coast with its $75 million gated country club estate.

The five-star gated community delivers an alternative for over 50’s looking to nourish their mind, bodies and souls.

Seachange project director Phil Goodman said response to the community had been overwhelming, with the first tow stages almost sold out and the first residents already moved in.

“Seachange Emerald Lakes offers a secure, premium lifestyle in a supportive, friendly environment surrounded by like-minded people,” he said.

Located on the edge of a 37ha lake, Seachange Emerald Lakes delivers stunning views and a prime position.

Upon completion, Seachange Emerald Lakes will feature 126 boulevard and waterfront homes, and a five-star residents’ country club.

Lifestyle is the major focus for the development, with the community designed to energise and invigorate residents.

Seachange Emerald Lakes is rich in amenities, with the highlight being the country club. The facility includes an indoor heated pool, tennis court, cinema, library, gym and access to a championship golf course.

Residents can also enjoy 13km of walking and bike tracks, a retail precinct and restaurants and cafes.

There is direct access to the M1 motorway to Brisbane and it is only five minutes’ drive to the Nerang rail link and 10 minutes’ drive to Broadbeach and the beaches.

The onsite sales centre is located at 1 The Inlet Drive, Emerald Lakes.

Construction February 2015

3 March 2015 by Terence Moyana

Thirteen homes are now occupied at Seachange Emerald Lakes.

The pouring of the tilt panels for the Country Club has now been completed and is visible in the photo, stacked in the area behind the Sales Centre.

These panels are scheduled to be raised by early March.

The Country Club carpark was also poured this month.
