Golden Couple Go For Gold!

26 April 2016 by Terence Moyana

Golden couple Sandra and Jeffery Niblett recently celebrated in true golden style their 50th ‘Golden Wedding Anniversary’. So to mark this milestone and very special day in their marriage a celebration with their family and friends was certainly the order of the day.

Long-term residents of Seachange Arundel Sandra and Jeffery both agreed that the obvious choice of venue, for a celebration of this magnitude with 130 guests, was the Seachange Country Club. Little did they realise that the Country Club came with a team of volunteer residents who tirelessly volunteer their help at group functions, before during and after the event.

Guests travelled far and wide from Wollongong, Sydney, Adelaide, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane to help this special couple celebrate their golden wedding anniversary and all thoroughly enjoyed the festivities and were amazed at the community support shown and the definite care provided to everyone to enable the night to be such a success on all accounts.

Guests, as well as Jeffery and Sandra were most impressed with the volunteer bar staff Bob and John for making each guest feel so important and special and nothing was too much trouble for the pair – they truly were an integral part in the success of the night along with Glenn Shields entertaining all throughout the night.

The story of this celebration is not so much the celebration itself but the way and mannerism in which the Seachange Arundel community made Sandra and Jeffery feel so very special. From the use of the venue and under the direction of Brian and Di Dawson who took the stress out of organising such a grand ‘golden’ event to taking care of details ranging from flowers, setting the tables, food preparation and bar service. They were very humbled and for want of a better word ‘gobsmacked’ by the way the Seachange community hosted such a grand golden event, that now holds so many dear memories to the golden couple, Sandra and Jeffery Niblett.

We Will Remember

26 April 2016 by Terence Moyana

On April 25th, ANZAC Day, every year Australians young and old come together to honour soldiers, their deeds and their wide experience of war, and this is where this story begins. This is the story of a humble, unassuming, yet distinguished and honourable man who has been decorated with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM). Clive Mitchell Taylor OAM, along with his wife, Margaret, are both very active residents within the over 50s community of Seachange Arundel, and have been for the better part of five years.

This Anzac Day (2016), Clive will be leading the 8th Battalion on the march through Brisbane, an honour that is bestowed to few and one that is not to be taken lightly; a role that Clive is very proud to carry out as this year commemorates the 50th year anniversary of the forming of this Battalion. In conjunction with leading the March, Clive is also delivering a speech at the dawn service at The Enoggera Barracks.

Clive within the Army ranks has held a variety of positions from Private to Major. Upon retirement he has been heavily involved with the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia (VVAA) in the capacities of President, Treasurer and Secretary to very briefly mention merely a few of his connections with Ex-Service Veterans. Therefore, Clive is more than capable to keep the connection strong within the thirtytwo (32) veterans that all reside within this community and whom proudly call Seachange Arundel home.

Whilst Margaret stresses that Clive is ‘stepping back’ from his various duties and positions and basic involvement with the VVAA, the community within Seachange Arundel allows him to keep his passion strong and current. Clive finds purpose, strength and friendships through this community and his involvement, that can but only be applauded. Such a proud man, Clive is quick to down play and make light of his association and experience during his enlistment, his commitment with the VVAA and currently his involvement within the Seachange Arundel community. Clearly Clive and Margaret are endeared residents of this community and they proudly call it home and after spending years on the move, Clive takes a deep breath and states…“We are home and we are so happy” at Seachange Arundel.

It is here that Clive remembers every day not just on ANZAC Day, and he will continue to remember, and it is through his lifetime of contributions to Australia through the Army ranks and the VVAA that the younger generation will not forget. Seachange Arundel is so very proud of all Clive’s contributions past, present and ongoing, to Australia and importantly this community

Here Comes The Bride

26 April 2016 by Terence Moyana

Don’t we all love the soothing sound of bells, an old fashioned love story, a happy ending and the occasional wedding is always a bonus. Put all these elements together and we have a best seller, a hit movie and a very happy couple living and loving life together within the Seachange community, where they met. This story plays out like a Hollywood movie, reads like a romance novel and sounds too good to be true. But trust me this love story is five years in the making and in a matter of weeks this couple will be married before close family and friends and this is a first for both Seachange Arundel and Emerald Lakes. Love is in the air and excitement is building!

Sue and Stuart are so very eager and thrilled for their upcoming wedding at the end of the month and rightly so. They finish each other’s sentences, they smile continuously at each other and they both have ‘the spark’ – this is truly a lovely couple who are in love and owe it all to and thank Seachange Lifestyle Resorts.

Both, Sue and Stuart were long-time residents at Seachange Arundel and this is where this love story starts and flourished. Sue, with a twinkle in her eye says that Stuart is her ‘perfect match’ and that he is the one she has always been in search of. Look no further as this perfectly matched couple is home and so happy at Seachange Emerald Lakes after making the switch sixteen months ago to start and continue their life together.

Upon their engagement they decided a new location was in order and it was a simple decision to make moving from Seachange Arundel to Seachange Emerald Lakes, on the lake. They thrive in this over 50s community based lifestyle and attribute their happiness to Seachange as it was within this community that they met and well, love blossomed. Both agree that the lifestyle offered at, Seachange Arundel and Emerald Lakes is conducive to socialising, functions and simply meeting like-minded people at a stage in their life where they want to live, feel safe and be happy each day, together. Both communities of course raise their glass to the happy couple and wish them well – cheers to the newlyweds!

Exceed the Government’s Senior Exercise Guidelines at the Best Over 50s Lifestyle Resort in Arundel

4 March 2016 by Terence Moyana

When we decided to build an over 50s lifestyle resort in Arundel, we decided we would create the kind of environment that we would be proud and happy to live in. We chose the concepts of friendship, fun and fitness because we know that all three provide a longer, happier, healthier life, according to numerous studies and statistics.

Australian Government Fitness Recommendations for Seniors

The Government recommendations for seniors contain a surprising amount of activity: at least two and a half hours of moderate intensity aerobic activity, an hour and 15 minutes of vigorous intensity aerobic activity and two sessions of muscle-strengthening per week.

Moderate intensity aerobic activities include: fast walking, water aerobics, line and ballroom dancing, cycling on fairly level ground and playing doubles tennis. Vigorous intensity aerobic training includes: “aerobics,” running, fast swimming, fast cycling, cycling in a hilly environment, singles tennis and energetic dancing.

Active Adult Living at Seachange Arundel

At Seachange Arundel, you will find an entire community of active seniors. The resort is designed for you to walk, run or cycle to go wherever you need to go. At our 5-Star Country Club, the centrepiece of Seachange Arundel, you can swim and play tennis. We also have a dining room with a dance floor and performance stage.

Most of all, though, it all comes back to the people here. Seachange Arundel is the friendliest retirement resort on the Gold Coast. When you move here, you are welcomed by an entire community of people like you: experienced, friendly and seeking an active lifestyle. In no time, you will find that you can spend the entire day just walking and talking to friends if you want.

Numerous studies and data have proven that people who exercise and have social contact on a daily basis live longer, have more energy and take less trips to the doctor.

Life Begins at 50 in this Arundel Retirement Lifestyle Resort

2 March 2016 by Terence Moyana

Seachange Arundel can be classified as many things: retirement lifestyle village is one of them. But really, Seachange Arundel is more than just an over 50s lifestyle resort. We offer an active lifestyle based on friendship, fun and fitness. And you don’t even have to be retired yet to move here and enjoy the active lifestyle.

Life Starts At 50 in Retirement Lifestyle Resort

If your children have “left the nest,” you may find you don’t really feel the need to be tied down by a huge home. What was once necessary for raising children may now seem like a lot of unnecessary maintenance. It can be a lot of hard work to maintain space that you no longer need, especially if you have a large backyard or garden.

When you look around your neighbourhood, you may notice that a lot of people your age have gradually moved away and were replaced by younger families. They are nice people, but you don’t have as much in common with them as you do with people of your generation.

You may or may not be retired, but you may find yourself wishing you could live someplace where you spend more time doing what you want and less time keeping up a yard and home that are no longer as relevant to you as they used to be.

If this sounds like you, it may be time for a seachange. And what better place than Seachange Arundel? At Seachange Arundel, you will live a vibrant lifestyle that allows you the benefit of living in a world class resort and the independence of being a resident, but without the maintenance and hard work.

Best Retirement Village on the Gold Coast?

At Seachange Arundel, we don’t just say “friendship, fun and fitness.” We live and breathe those principles every day. When you look around, you will see a lot of friendly, like-minded people waiting to welcome you into their community. We make it easy and natural to build activity and social engagement into every day of your life.
