Local business to build homes in $71m lifestyle resort

With over 20 years’ experience in building quality homes in the Toowoomba region, Nick Ruhle Homes has been appointed by Pradella Property Ventures’ for the construction of the much anticipated Seachange Toowoomba homes, in this prestigious new over 50’s resort.

“The choice to appoint Nick Ruhle Homes was born out of wanting to partner with a local Toowoomba builder whose values and quality matched the high standards that Seachange deliver,” says Phil Goodman CEO Pradella Property Ventures.

“My desire to be partnered with a multi-award winning developer such as Seachange is an exciting opportunity and undoubtedly this initial 5 million dollar contract will support the local economy with nearly all of my trades and suppliers coming from Toowoomba,” Nick Ruhle stated.

“The brief was clear, design homes that were quintessentially Toowoomba with a Hampton’s theme. The designs have exceeded our initial expectations and we are looking forward to the first houses being completed in the coming months” continued Mr Goodman.

The first stage of 20 homes is expected to start construction shortly,” said Goodman.

Riverside Coomera Construction Update

To mark the 12 month anniversary since the purchase of the development, it’s important to understand the journey that has taken to produce the Gold Coast’s latest boutique over 50s lifestyle resort.

In May 2016, Pradella acquired the riverfront development at Upper Coomera. The Seachange Philosophy demands that our resorts are only ever positioned in unique and premium locations. A Sense of Place

Positioned overlooking a grove of stately pine trees atop rolling green lawns that flow gently down to the Upper Coomera River, the latest development from Seachange Lifestyle Resorts will very much be a premium lifestyle offering that has been custom designed to take full advantage of its picture perfect setting.

With a strong connection to both the river and the hinterland that surrounds, the development will proudly focus on the environment to draw many of its design cues.

Stone, granite and hardwoods like cedar and blue gum will all be incorporated into main buildings, while well-maintained gardens – a key feature of any Seachange development will surround the entire development.

The property’s position and natural North-Easterly orientation are also major factors in the site’s design, with the majority of homes oriented to take full advantage of the views and breezes.

All these facets are also reflected in the overarching style of architecture utilised throughout, which has been inspired by the Nut and Berries style which emerged in Australia in the 1960s. Given the prior owner’s business, unsurprisingly, most of the driveways around the original home were paved in bricks reclaimed from buildings along the Queen Street Mall – each one painstakingly hand cleaned. These will be all be re-used throughout the new development.

Solid hardwood beams, cedar panelling and hardwood flooring, (also from Queen Street) will be similarly re-purposed in the Country Club and Riverhouse.

The original post and rail fence will also be retained, as will many of the mature trees, including the grove of 70-year-old pines that run along the perimeter.

“Given its sense of history, we want to repurpose and re-house as many elements from the existing structures as possible,” says Alex.

“In this way, we’ve been able to take the best of the site’s natural beauty and its extensive built heritage and work them into our new development for an outcome that is truly greater than the sum of these individual parts.”
