Exceed the Government’s Senior Exercise Guidelines at the Best Over 50s Lifestyle Resort in Arundel

04 Mar, 2016

When we decided to build an over 50s lifestyle resort in Arundel, we decided we would create the kind of environment that we would be proud and happy to live in. We chose the concepts of friendship, fun and fitness because we know that all three provide a longer, happier, healthier life, according to numerous studies and statistics.

Australian Government Fitness Recommendations for Seniors

The Government recommendations for seniors contain a surprising amount of activity: at least two and a half hours of moderate intensity aerobic activity, an hour and 15 minutes of vigorous intensity aerobic activity and two sessions of muscle-strengthening per week.

Moderate intensity aerobic activities include: fast walking, water aerobics, line and ballroom dancing, cycling on fairly level ground and playing doubles tennis. Vigorous intensity aerobic training includes: “aerobics,” running, fast swimming, fast cycling, cycling in a hilly environment, singles tennis and energetic dancing.

Active Adult Living at Seachange Arundel

At Seachange Arundel, you will find an entire community of active seniors. The resort is designed for you to walk, run or cycle to go wherever you need to go. At our 5-Star Country Club, the centrepiece of Seachange Arundel, you can swim and play tennis. We also have a dining room with a dance floor and performance stage.

Most of all, though, it all comes back to the people here. Seachange Arundel is the friendliest retirement resort on the Gold Coast. When you move here, you are welcomed by an entire community of people like you: experienced, friendly and seeking an active lifestyle. In no time, you will find that you can spend the entire day just walking and talking to friends if you want.

Numerous studies and data have proven that people who exercise and have social contact on a daily basis live longer, have more energy and take less trips to the doctor.
